چکیده

Much has already been written about the technology, the basic ideas as well as the potential clinical needs behind the combining of MR and PET. As with all new imaging methodologies, there is debate as to how much this technology is really needed (similarly, for example, with the availability of PET/CT) and the discussion regarding MR/PET in particular concerns the level of integration and, even more fundamentally, the question whether the simultaneity of MRI and PET acquisition is really required. It should be pointed out that now that the MR/PET technology is available in the Biograph mMR, real simultaneous imaging with different methodologies is possible in a clinical setting for the first time – a clear paradigm shift in how we acquire information about patients and their diseases. The combining of functional information derived by MR and the possibility to influence PET information and vice versa is stimulating researchers worldwide and hopefully this will also clearly impact on how we provide biomarkers for therapy decisions throughout the continuum of patient care. But also from a purely clinical and very practical perspective, simultaneity 1B 1A

Simultaneous PET and MR imaging.

We have developed a prototype PET detector which is compatible with a clinical MRI system to provide simultaneous PET and MR imaging. This single-slice PET system consists of 48 2 x 2 x 10 mm3 LSO crystals in a 38 mm diameter ring configuration that can be placed inside the receiver coil of the MRI system, coupled to three multi-channel photomultipliers housed outside the main magnetic field vi...

Simultaneous assessment of Perfusion with [O]water PET and arterial spin labeling MR using a hybrid PET/MR device

The combination of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance (MR) is a promising tool in biomedical research and clinical diagnostic imaging. In this study we performed to our knowledge the first simultaneous PET and MR perfusion measurements using [O]water, as a PET perfusion marker, and arterial spin labeling (ASL), for MR perfusion measurements, in small animals. Due to the i...

Dose Optimization in TOF-PET/MR Compared to TOF-PET/CT

PURPOSE To evaluate the possible activity reduction in FDG-imaging in a Time-of-Flight (TOF) PET/MR, based on cross-evaluation of patient-based NECR (noise equivalent count rate) measurements in PET/CT, cross referencing with phantom-based NECR curves as well as initial evaluation of TOF-PET/MR with reduced activity. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 75 consecutive patients were evaluated in t...

Whole-Body MR/PET Hybrid Imaging: Technical Considerations, Clinical Workfl ow, and Initial Results

These days we are eyewitnesses to an exciting new hybrid imaging modality to enter the clinical arena, namely simultaneous whole-body MR/PET imaging. Envisioning the combination of the excellent soft tissue contrast, high spatial and temporal resolution, and functional tissue parameters that MR provides with the high sensitivity of PET, different technical approaches have been pursued by resear...

Impact of MR-Based Attenuation Correction on Neurologic PET Studies.

UNLABELLED Hybrid PET and MR scanners have become a reality in recent years, with the benefits of reduced radiation exposure, reduction of imaging time, and potential advantages in quantification. Appropriate attenuation correction remains a challenge. Biases in PET activity measurements were demonstrated using the current MR-based attenuation-correction technique. We aimed to investigate the i...
